Game Development
Libertas Infinitum
Our flagship game strives to be everything we (as players) have ever wanted in a role-playing game. the design we are developing is not guided by marketing, or corporate image. Sales potential is not part of our vision, and it is this that liberates us and affords the freedom to design a truly great game. We are not producing just another cookie-cutter game that will make a quick buck. We are producing the game that we as players, want to play. You can find more detailed commentary on this at the site.
PacketSurfer
Multiplayer network security game, in the style of Uplink, with a bit more emphasis on realism. The game will have a scripting language that can be used to craft an arsenal of tools in-game, along with a whole host of premade tools for those who prefer not to create their own. Rather than the point-and-click style of Uplink, PacketSurfer will offer a GUI for those who prefer it, which will be customisable (using the same internal scripting language), and a commandline for those who prefer the power it brings. Emphasis will be placed on the value of source code, and the politics surrounding it will play a part in the story. Different tools used in-game will be licensed differently. Some open and free, others binary-only, and others in the middle. Quality of open tools, and robustness will be demonstrated. Users will be encouraged to share their custom code with others, and part of the competitive nature of the game may revolve around this, and other anti-corporate themes.
Hax
A side-scrolling action-adventure game, in the style of classics such as Capcom’s Megaman, or Konami’s Castlevania series. The notable difference here is the geek factor surrounding the game. With weapons scavenged from spare computer parts (mouse-whip, thrown recordable CDs, and more!), and a freedom-loving attitude, progress through the world we have created. Battle money-hungry corporate giants, and lawmakers bent on bringing censorship to your door. Content will be downloadable in-game, allowing for a plethora of new worlds, items, and characters. Protect yourself with customisable in-game software, such as antivirus programs, firewalls and IDS systems to defend against attacks, and a wide range of offensive software as well. Experience Hax in several different themes. As an open-source hacker, a digital musician defending freedom and the right to distribute, or even as a devious cracker, using every toy at your disposal to cause the most damage.
